Dr. Yakkanti specializes in the area of hip and knee joint replacement and fracture management, with a special interest in same-day/outpatient joint replacement, anterior approach hip replacement, robotic surgery, and patient-specific joint replacement. He has extensive surgical training and experience in managing complex and complicated hip and knee replacement cases. By virtue of his experience, he has a passion for managing geriatric fractures.
Dr. Yakkanti has a long association with teaching the art of orthopedic surgery. He was awarded the best resident teacher award on multiple occasions in his role as assistant professor of orthopedics at the University of Louisville. He regularly communicates with his peers, students, and teachers regarding management of complex orthopedic problems. He participates in annual academic meetings of orthopedic societies on a regular basis. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, American Academy of Hip and Knee Surgeons, Orthopedic Trauma Association, Mid America Orthopedic Association, Kentucky Orthopedic Association, and Kentucky Medical Association.
Dr. Yakkanti was born in India where he earned his basic medical education and completed his orthopedic residency training. He went on to complete advanced training in managing complex fractures and polytrauma at the University of Louisville, where he also completed an adult reconstruction fellowship. Dr. Yakkanti is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
