Dawn M. Michels, DPM

Dr. Michels earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Northern Iowa. She graduated cum laude from William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine, then moved to Louisville and became the first woman to complete a surgical residency in Foot and Ankle Reconstruction at the Kentucky Podiatric Residency program, which is affiliated with the University of Louisville.
After completing her residency, Dr. Michels began providing comprehensive, compassionate foot and ankle care to patients of all ages in Louisville and New Albany, and she has continued to do so for more than 19 years.
Dr. Michels specializes in evaluating and treating foot and ankle conditions, including Achilles tendinitis, flatfoot, general foot pain, heel pain, ingrown toenails, neuromas, plantar fasciitis, stress fractures, toenail injuries, and warts. She provides in-office treatment with the goal to get her patients back on their feet so they can enjoy the things that matter most to them.
In her free time, Dr. Michels enjoys playing tennis and golf, swimming, strength training, hiking, and traveling with her husband, Carlos Rivas, and their three children.
